Voluntary HIV Counseling and Testing in Accra, Ghana

In Accra, Ghana, voluntary HIV counseling and testing (VCT) is an essential intervention for HIV prevention, care and treatment, and includes components and minimum standards outlined in both national and international guidelines. This descriptive study describes HIV VCT service delivery within the district, and compared findings to the WHO and UNAIDS-established guidelines. This descriptive study captured key characteristics of testing services in 2003-2004.

Vincent Wong is a Senior Technical Advisor at USAID's Office of HIV/AIDS in Wash DC, and was a consultant to the WHO HIV Dept, Geneva. He holds a Master's of Science in International Health from Humboldt University, Charite Medical School, Berlin, Germany, and a BA in Integrative Biology from the University of California Berkeley.
