Von der Antike bis zum Buchdruck

The subject of the book is the history of writing from Greek Antiquity around the middle of the 8th century BC up to the time between the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 17th when the effects and consequences of printing became noticeable in the practice of writing. The account focuses on the activity of writing, the various conceptions of writing, the specific organisation of the action of writing, and the historical practice of writing at any given time.

A second volume will be devoted to the history of writing from the Early Modern Age up to the present day.
