Vulnerability and Industrial Hazards
Details
In the present times, Chemical Plants & Allied Industries have been seen to bloom in the pockets of urban sprawls due to the cheap and abundant availability of the all the basic amenities required for their survival. But it has been observed that these places are also the habitations of the people from the lowest rung of the socio economic class of the society. Due to the unregulated toxic discharge from the plants, this phenomena of coexistence has been seen to be having a very adverse affect on the local populace & the surrounding environment, which has lead not only to degradation & pollution, but when hazards have occurred in these plants, combined with the local people's vulnerability, they have manifested into huge industrial disasters, which have claimed hundreds of lives & maimed thousands. This book is a study of one such location, the vulnerability of that area, along with the preparedness systems & infrastructure present, which would be mobilized in the event of a probable industrial disaster in the area. This work should be useful for the professionals in the fields of Disaster Risk Management, Urban Development & Industrial H.S.E.
