Major General Waheed Arshad is the current Vice Chief of General Staff (VCGS) of the Pakistan Army appointed to that post on 29 September, 2008 by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. He was formerly the Director General Planning at Chief of Army Staff Secretariat and the Director General Inter Services Public Relations.Before taking over ISPR directorate, the general was GOC Bahawalpur.Waheed Arshad was commissioned in Armored Corps of Pakistan Army in October 1975 in the 52nd PMA Long Course. He is a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defence College, Islamabad, and Turkish War Academy, Istanbul. During his career, the Major General Waheed has had a varied experience of command, staff and instructional appointments at various levels. He served as Brigade Major of an Independent Armored Brigade Group and remained on the faculty of Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, School of Infantry and Tactics, Quetta and National Defence College, Islamabad.
