The school is part of the Wake County Public School System. It operates on the traditional 10-month school calendar.SOS is now the largest after-school club at Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. The club's mission is to focus on teaching students citizenship and to be proud Americans. Dance Marathon is the biggest endeavor SOS undertakes each year. Besides organizing this large charity event at the school, members learn how to run the project much like a small business using free enterprise to accomplish their goals. Students learn how to solicit sponsorship, how to plan the budget, how to determine project needs vs. project wants, and how to make business involvement a win for all participants. SOS publicizes the event in the school and community via posters, video commercials, and press releases. SOS club supervisor Michael Meyer has organized this project in three North Carolina middle schools.
