Castle Waldeck in the Gemarkung of the village Dorweiler, in Dommershausen, in the Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis circle in Rhineland-Palatinate. It was the master seat of the Hunsrücker Family Boos.The ruin is situated high over the Baybach valley. William I of Heinzenberg, built the fortress in 1150 and, in so doing, established the "Boos-Waldeck" house which was later to become widespread.The medieval castle endured several wars, and was partially destroyed by the French (1689) in the course of the Pfälzischen succession war.
