Staff reveiver Jom praised the bands for producing "arguably the most remarkable EP of 2005" and summarised the album as a "phenomenal EP that defines The Red Paintings' stellar musicianship".The Sydney Morning Herald's Bernard Zuel, described the EP as "psychedelia the way it's meant to be" and likened them to The Decemberists and the Arcade Fire.
