Waste Management and Environmental Auditing of An Urban Road Project
Details
This book reports the waste management at a road construction project site in Maiduguri, Nigeria and the environmental auditing of the project itself. It assesses the compliance to existing legislations by the construction activities at the site in terms of waste management. The analysis was carried out through site inspection, project investigation and personal interviews. All possible types of waste generated during the construction process were identified. These include mainly site clearance waste materials, excavation waste materials, construction waste materials, chemical waste materials and municipal waste materials. The findings show the potential effects of the wastes generated at the construction site and how it could affect the beauty and safety of the environment. On the basis of the findings, possible measures for managing waste along the road corridor by all stakeholders were suggested in order to conserve the environment.
