Water availability in the production of Alstroemeria x hybrida in pots

The study of water requirements and proper irrigation management for cut flowers is of great importance, given the concern about water scarcity, as well as problems related to lack or excess water that impair product quality. For the floriculture industry, where visual appearance is the most important factor, research involving the identification of water availability throughout the growing cycle, as well as the entire production chain, from substrate mixing to the production environment, is necessary to assist producers. Alstroemeria is highly prized and widely used in the cut flower trade, and economic interest in the species is growing worldwide. This requires research and understanding of its behaviour, as the main characteristic of the floriculture sector is the need to produce a high-quality end product.
