WATER CHEMISTRY OF THE GANGA RIVER AT GARHWAL HIMALAYAS, INDIA

This present book is a result of three years research work which includes one year daily sampling from different locations and also seasonal sampling from the entire Upper Ganga Basin. The book presents current research trend in hydro-geochemical study of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi Rivers, two major tributaries of Ganga, Indian Himalayan Rivers. The book deals with basic concept of weathering, water and sediment chemistry, water flux and sediment flux and also give the significance of Sr isotopes, REE. Though there are many other research paper and book available on geochemistry of Ganga River but this is the first time when such huge data set and long term data with high accuracy is used which makes this book unique from others. The book is written clearly and concisely for easy reading and profusely illustrated with many figures.

Ravi Kumar Saini completed his M.Tech (2003) in Applied Geology from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. He was awarded PhD. degree in 2007 by H.N.B.G. University, Srinagar, India. Dr. Saini has to his credit many research papers published in national and international research journals.
