Except for photovoltaic solar and wind power, which require no water to produce energy.However there is a substantial water requirement for all forms of electricity generation in making the raw materials and constructing and maintaining the plant. Thus although wind-power has a very low water requirement operationally, if it is mounted on a concrete or steel tower, many tonnes of water will have been required in its construction.In the USA about 2 gallons of water evaporates to create one kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy.
