Water&Sanitation Affecting Children in Kibera Slums in Nairobi, Kenya
Details
The recent developing world's population unprecedented growth has led to shortage of sanitation services as witnessed in appalling slum conditions. The overcrowding in the slums depicts the epitome of poverty which has impacted adversely on the most vulnerable group - the children.Unfortunately there is lack of detailed documentation of the problems experienced by children in these slum areas. There is need to reduce the poverty level as stipulated in MDG1 which articulates reduction of those living on less than a dollar a day, especially in urban areas. What is lacking in our times in this regard is evidenced-based material to help guide those concerned in eradicating this challenge now bedeviling development practitioners and academicians. Dr. Mrs. Esther Chelule's work fills the above gap by presenting carefully researched findings highlighting the otherwise unearthed yet badly needed information on slums conditions.
