"Ways through Art"

When i started thinking of designing a Kunsthaus in
Innsbruck i had a clear idea about presenting art to
the public, but so far i had no picture of an
architectural language in mind, how to translate my
thoughts in the urban context. My educational
background was characterized by european
architecture. Travelling e.g. Los Angeles and Brazil
gave me a completely new and different understanding
of architecture. Finally i got the picture! A white
box entering through a tiny entrance and exit space
does not help. Either a charming exterior skin does
not solve the situation. The theme of i n s i d e &
o u t s i d e, i n t e r a c t i o n and the t r
a n s i t i o n and f l o w of
space led to a promissing result.

Irmgard Reiter was born in Austria. She studied Architecture in Innsbruck, Austria and graduated with a special distinction. She completed her studies with a Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York City in 2008. Professional experience she gained from offices in Austria and New York.
