Web Spam Detection

The Web is both an excellent medium for sharing information as well as an attractive platform for delivering products and services. Search engines rank Web pages in order to create a short list of high-quality results for users. The way in which pages are ranked directly influences the set of pages that are visited frequently by the search engine users. Web spam is a serious problem for search engines because it degrades the quality of their results. Many people become frustrated by constantly finding spam sites when they are looking for legitimate content. This project builds an efficient spam detection system based on a classifier that uses language model based features, content based and link based features of a web page.
