Wife Inheritance among the Luo of Kenya
Details
This book offers a Critical inquiry into the practice of wife inheritance, as a cultural practice among the Luo of Kenya. The author provides an insight into how philosophy can be useful in making culture responsive to the changing circumstances of life and existential needs of man in society. He advocates for continuity of the valuable aspects and abolition of the repugnant and obsolete facets of the custom, which are oppressive and demeaning to human dignity and freedom. The masterpiece contributes to the campaigns for the emasculation of the female folk, eradication of abject poverty and war against the ever escalating situation of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. It is recommended to the Africanist scholars worldwide and the agencies dealing in the above concerns. It focuses on its impact on individual freedom and nexus with the spread of HIV/AIDS and poverty in African societies.
