Wildlife conservation challenges of Eastern Ethiopia

The observed wildlife threats should be communicated to the larger stakeholder of conservation interest. The status of our protected areas and their potential wildlife are poorly emphasized. Water scarcity is a serious conservation challenge of wild animals exposing to various threats while they move to fulfill their ecological requirements. Hence, ecologically studied and carefully designed watering point should be established within the important attraction sites of the protected areas. Alternative livelihood approaches of the community living adjacent to protected areas should be altered so as to establish community interest to conserve the biodiversity. Therefore, protected area community development and livelihood improvement packages should be designed. The rapidly increasing infrastructural and economic development of the county in Ethio- Djibouti highway is an economic corridor passing through four protected areas. The highway is the biggest conservation challenge. Hence, sign posts, crossing structure and deriver's awareness creation should be devised as intervention measures. Furthermore, the Highway extended through Ethio- Djibouti should have digital sign posts of eco.
