WOMEN AND CHRISTIANITY IN OBOLO (ANDONI):

This book is an advocacy of women role in the establishment of Christianity in Obolo (Andoni). It analyses the historical beginning and establishment of Christianity. The alien religion was first established through the pioneer convert, Madam Ngban Ijo in 1870 at Ataba in Andoni before it spreads to other parts of Obolo (Andoni). It indicates that Christianity in the area was planted, nurtured and promoted by indigenous believers and not by the European Missionaries as it was obtainable in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Efik and Ibibio territories. The work critically examines the outstanding efforts of the women in the spread of Christianity in Obolo (Andoni) in both Orthodox and Pentecostal denominations. Obolo (Andoni) women contributed substantially to church funding in the area through provision of structural facilities which enhanced the wellbeing of the Clergy men and church workers. The tremendous impact of Christianity in Obolo (Andoni) which spanned the socio-cultural, political and economic spheres of lives has been highlighted in the work. This book has increase the historical knowledge on women contributions to the existence, growth and promotion of Christianity till date.
