Even though, women constitute half of the world's population, their contribution to measured economic activity, growth, and well-being is far below its potential. Besides, employment of women in economic sectors has important effect on their life, family and the country at large. However, the gap between women and men in paid employment remains wide in many parts of the world. These issues of women encompassing determinants and consequences of unemployment on them are not well articulated. Additionally, these problems are rampant in developing countries compared to developed countries. Accordingly, this book examines the socio-cultural and demographic determinants of employment status of women and the consequences of unemployment on them in Bahir Dar City, Ethiopia. Hence, this book is help full for policy makers, governments as well as non government organizations, activists and other bodies for taking appropriate measures so as to allow women to be active participants and beneficiaries of development outcomes.
