Little is known about women in Ghana s contribution to the socio-economic wellbeing of their families and communities through their entrepreneurial activities. The focus of this book is generally on female entrepreneurship in a developing country. It describes the nature and construction of entrepreneurship by women in Ghana. This being one of the first studies on women entrepreneurs in Ghana, a multidisciplinary approach was adopted to explore a myriad of factors in order to provide an understanding of the women s entrepreneurship.Seven key dimensions were identified in relation to the women entrepreneurs characteristics, motivations, business profile, human and financial resources, their networks, business problems, and their successes. The findings reveal that Ghanaian women entrepreneurs create and manage a whole range of innovative businesses. These women entrepreneurs possess a unique human capital derived from their childhood and general exposure to entrepreneurial experiences from family members. This book contributes to knowledge about female entrepreneurship in a developing economy, and has practical implications for researchers and policy makers
