This research is based on investigating the present status of women's involvement in community development. Furthermore, it focuses on investigating the factors affecting women's participation and different policies undertaken by the Government of Nepal. In this research, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies have been employed to get required information. Participatory theory, forms of participation and various communal concepts like gender and empowerment have been used to make analysis of the study. The study was carried out among 50 women working at 15 different organizations in Kathmandu, Nepal. The study suggested that many allied organizations, NGOs, government, community and individuals are responsible for improving and increasing the status of women's participation in community development programs. On the basis research findings, this paper tries to give some suggestions and recommendations to the individuals, community, different governmental and non-governmental organizations and political parties in order to ensure and encourage women's involvement in community development programs.

Author has been working as English cum Social studies teacher and an Art teacher for about a decade at school level. Besides her teaching job, Ms. Devi has served as a social worker in community level as one of her hobby includes Social-work. She received her Master's Degree in Public Administration from Yeungnam University, South Korea.
