Women's Journeys of Transformation
Details
In contemporary transpersonal theory, women's experiences of transformation have largely been overlooked. This study seeks to answer the question, what are women's lived experiences of the path of transformation through self-other relationships? Two prominent Transpersonal theorists, Ken Wilber and A.H. Almaas, are reviewed, and their developmental models of awakening are utilized to provide a framework of comparison for the participants involved in this study. Seven women were interviewed, and themes were extracted from their discourse in an attempt to elucidate the true nature of women's experiences of transformation, particularly as it applies to their understanding of 'self-in-relationship'.
