Women's Rights and Political Participation in Osun State,Nigeria.
Details
A critical study on the inclusion and participation of women in politics, from registering as voters to taking up political positions, the interest of the typical Nigerian women is low. A study of this was carried out in Osun State and it gave a clearer insight why women delved away from politics. The major problem right from the creation of the African continent is Patriarchal system. The Patriarchial system is a social system in which men hold primary power and predominate in roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. Some societies are also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. This is the believe that the men are in power and women who have grown up with the patriarchal mentality pass it on to the next generation and it continues. This book is aimed at establishing the problems and proffering solutions. The inclusion of women in politics is very necessary and highly recommended.
