Work Life challenge among Academic Women of Different Race and Ethnicities is a qualitative study examines the perceived barriers to occupational advancement and role/demands and conflict of women academics of different race and ethnic backgrounds. In-depth interviews were used to explore the everyday experiences of eight academic female professors belonging to different races and ethnicities. This study shows how women challenged traditional gender socialization by using different strategies to deal with work-related stress. These strategies were behind their success and advancing in their careers despite gender stereotyping. The results of the research are is consistent with the notion that academic women and others engaged in a process of change are continually challenging and resisting the oppressive power relations that characterize academic environments.
