Workplace accidents in the private sector in Tunisia

The objective of our work was to:- Describe the neurological sequelae and discuss the specifics of their compensation.This was a retrospective descriptive study over a period of three years (from 2017 to 2019), covering the files of employees in the private sector suffering from neurological sequelae caused by a work accident, consolidated and declared to the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) of Tunis.90 victims of work accidents with neurological sequelae were included. The victims were male in 90% of the cases. The average age of the study population was 40 years (standard deviation 11.88). Two peaks were observed in the age groups 31 to 40 and 51 to 60 years. The median total temporary disability was 79 days (15 to 2169 days). The median duration of consolidation was 79 days (16 to 1795 days). The median permanent partial disability (PPD) was 10% (6 to 100%). The disability was severe (PPI > 15%) in 28% of cases. These included paraplegia, hemiplegia, epilepsy, and truncal paralysis, and those with a high degree of disability.
