Details

This book is basically a "one stop" information for wound and wound healing strategies, potentials & guidance for research. Wound healing involves components like platelets, neutrophils, fibronectin, macrophages, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, keratinocytes, collagen, proteoglycans. It is also promoted by various growth factors such as platelet-derived growth factor, transforming growth factor, epidermal growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, fibroblast growth factor. There are different methods of wound debridement such as autolytic debridement, bio-surgery, sharp debridement and surgical debridement. Animal models are very important to determine the factors that may affect the multifactorial nature of the healing process of wound and disorders associated with delayed wound healing. There are numerous models in-vitro and in-vivo that are developed to determine the mechanisms involved in the healing process. This book also encompasses glimpse of various plants used for wound healing.
