Leseprobe
A prickle runs up my spine as I'm suddenly overwhelmed by a feeling that someone's standing just behind me. I freeze, not daring to move, barely daring to breathe. I feel a slightness of breath as if another person is close by, just behind my shoulder, enthralled, like me, by the spectacle of the birds on the sparkling water and the snow-capped mountains beyond. I know I'm imagining it, but the feeling is so overwhelming I can't help but spin round, hoping she's found a way to come to me.
But of course it's just me in here, with my over-active imagination and my silly hopeful heart. But just a little part of me believes that somehow she knows.
