The x86 instruction set have been extended several times, introducing wider registers and datatypes and/or new functionality. This is the full 8086/8088 instruction set, but most, if not all of these instructions are available in 32-bit mode, they just operate on 32-bit registers (eax, ebx, etc) and values instead of their 16-bit (ax, bx, etc) counterparts. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is an extension to the x86 instruction set architecture for microprocessors from Intel and AMD proposed by Intel in March 2008. The purpose is to improve the speed of applications doing encryption and decryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), similar to the PadLock engine found in current processors from VIA Technologies.
