Quba (also known as Guba and Kuba) is a rayon in northeastern Azerbaijan. The capital (Quba) is located on the Kudyal River at 41.37°N, 48.50°E. The fertile region surrounding Quba is best known for its production of apples and the city area of Quba is known for its fine carpets. Xaltocan was inhabitated in Pre-Columbian times and is still populated today. In ancient times, its people who were comparable to the Aztecs of Mesoamerica, were rigorously religious, having temples and sacred sites in which they would worship their native gods, as well as performing occasional rituals that involved an offering of human sacrifice, among other similar ceremonies.
