High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Xanioascus canadensis is an extinct ctenophore, known from the Canadian Burgess Shale in British Columbia. The species which is about 512 million years old had 24 comb rows - in contrast to all modern forms which have only 8. Other important Cambrian ctenophore fossils are Fasciculus vesanus and Ctenorhabdotus capulus. The Ctenophora, commonly known as comb jellies, are a phylum of animals that live in marine waters worldwide. Their most distinctive feature is the "combs", groups of cilia that they use for swimming, and they are the largest animals that swim by means of cilia adults of various species range from a few millimeters to 1.5 meters (59 in) in size.
