In September 2001, XTRA Lease became part of the Berkshire Hathaway group of companies, headed by Warren Buffett. As of 2007, the company employs around 600 people. The company rents and leases a fleet of 125,000 trailers, including variable length dry vans, flatbeds, reefers and storage trailers.
