Gadilingana Gowd was twice a member of Parliament of India. He was the member of 1st Lok Sabha and 4th Lok Sabha of India. He represented Kurnool parliamentary constituency of Andhra Pradesh twice as member of parliament. He got elected to 1st Lok Sabha(1952-57) from Praja Socialist Party and to 4th Lok Sabha(1967-71) from Swatantra Party political parties respectively. The First Lok Sabha was constituted on 17 April 1952 after India''s first general election. The 1st Lok Sabha lasted its full tenure of five years and was dissolved on 4 April 1957. The Goud are one of the largest castes in Andhra Pradesh comprising more than 17% of its population. Gouds are involved in soma and Ayurvedic medicine developers in ancient days who are classified as Somavansh Kshatriyas. At present, they are involved in Palm wine/Toddy tapping, farming and modern professions.
