Muhammad Yasir Pirzada (born 24 February 1974 in Lahore), a CSS officer, is among the emerging crop of Pakistani columnists who have built a wide readership over a very short period of time. His weekly column "Zara Hat Kay" in Jang, Pakistan's most widely circulated Urdu daily; and his fortnightly column with the name "Off the beaten track" in The News, a leading English daily, addresses issues of an ordinary citizen in a unique and humorous style which is original and quite distinctive. Yasir Pirzada, son of famous Pakistani columnist and writer, Ata ul Haq Qasmi, was born in Lahore in 1974. He did his graduation from Government College, Lahore, one of the most prestigious institutions of the country in 1993 and then joined The Nation, a leading English daily. He worked there as crime reporter for almost a year and then took admission in University of the Punjab, Lahore to complete his Masters in Political Science. Meanwhile, Yasir also appeared in the Central Superior Services Examination (CSS) and passed that exam as youngest ever candidate and stood 78 all over Pakistan.
