She has been engaged with Dr. Pradeep (Sidhique) for many years. After they came to the city, he asks his best friend Paul (Innocent) to find her a new home. But being a spinster, Jyothi was not getting a home anywhere. So when she got a new home, she told the owner that she is married to Ramanujan. But when she had to leave there, she finds a stay at Ramanujan's house. They convinced the neighbours that they were couples. Ramanujan falls in love with her but he understands that she is already engaged. She returns to Kerala for her engagement. Both Ram and Paul attends the engagement party. Paul who got drunk tells everyone that Ram and Jyothi were living in a single home in Chennai. Her relation breaks up and she had to marry Ramanujan for that reason.
