She is an active member of the Directors Guild of America and the Motion Picture Editors Guild. Recently, Yelena has co-produced and edited Russian theatrical musical First Love: It's The Music! ( : ! ), produced by Sony, CTC Media and Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush, producers of High School Musical. Yelena has directed movies such as The Colt, Hidden Places, Hybrid, Primal Doubt. She also has directed a documentary Making of Dreamkeeper and a black comedy Might As Well Live. The movies she has directed earned numerous awards at film festivals around the world and in America. Oscar winning actress Shirley Jones has been nominated for Emmy Awards and SAG Awards for starring in Yelena's film Hidden Places. Hidden Places received The CAMIE Award 2007 and the Grace Award of MovieGuide Awards 2007. Writer Stephen Harrigan has WGA Awards and Humanitas Prize nominations for The Colt.
