Yoga and Young Adults
Details
Mental health is today an issue of international and national priority in public health. Among the main mental health conditions worldwide we find anxiety, depression and stress as the most prevalent, especially in young adults, in whom a greater presence and impact of these affective disorders is observed. The scientific search in recent years for therapeutic tools to combat these conditions has led to the discovery of a variety of beneficial effects in the practice of yoga. The present study aimed to investigate the changes that occurred in anxiety, depression, stress and psychological well-being in young adults using a pre-experimental design in a sample of 6 participants between 18-25 years of age. The overall results of the study showed a decrease in the participants' symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress as well as an increase in their state of psychological well-being, and significant changes were reported. The contents of the present study represent a contribution to the knowledge of the benefits of yoga in young adults.
