Youth and its Risks

Youth, the number of people between 10 and 24 years of age in the world has reached 1.5 billion, the highest figure in history. Of these, 238 million inhabitants of the planet survive on less than one dollar a day, around 153 million are illiterate and around 88 million are unemployed. Youth is more than the hope of the future, it is a participatory and protagonist population sector, potentially strategic for social development, which acquires relevance in the processes of change that society is undergoing. We are precisely at the best time to invest in YOUTH, out of necessity and wisdom, as the prevailing conditions are proof of this. This segment of the population is the healthiest, the best educated and has the best prospects in relation to the rest of the population. Hence the importance of prevention, rehabilitation and social reintegration actions in this age group, making it essential to have effective information and resources, such as those provided in this manual, to prevent or treat the problems faced by young people.
