George Washington met Morgan on a trip to Morgantown. The Morgan family is known as the "First Family of West Virginia" and one of their descendants, Ephraim F. Morgan, was a Governor of West Virginia. Most notably, Francis Harrison Pierpont, a great grandson of Zackquill Morgan, was Governor of both Virginia and West Virginia and is known as "Father of West Virginia".
