In this chain there are more than 483 locations. The first Zaxby's was opened in Statesboro, Georgia, near the Georgia Southern University campus, by Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley. Its menu is built around buffalo wings and chicken fingers, including them on platters, in sandwiches, and on salads (called Zalads on their menu). Although not the first restaurant to largely center on chicken fingers (this was first done by an Alabama chain known as Guthrie's, which started in 1978), Zaxby's is also well known for its wide variety of unique dipping sauces such as the original Zax Sauce. Zaxby's serves soft drinks in the Coca-Cola family. The dining rooms at Zaxby's restaurants are decorated with assorted whimsical objects and posters, which often vary in theme by location and which occasionally are regionally aware.
