His brothers include Al al-A ghar ibn usayn and Al al-Akbar ibn usayn. He is known as Zayn al-Abid n "Beauty/Best of the Worshippers". He is also referred to as Im m al-Sajjad "the Prostrating Im m" and Sayyid as-S jjad na wa r-R ki n "Leader of Those who Prostrate and Bow". Al ibn usayn was born on 15th Jamadiulawwal or 5th Shabaan 38 AH (654) in Medina. His father, usayn ibn Al , was a grandson of Muhammad (Sallallaho alehi wassalam). His brothers were Ali Akbar ibn Hussain and Ali Asghar ibn Hussain. His sisters were Sakina bint Hussain and Fatimah Sughra bint Hussain and Ruqayyah bint Hussain.
