Details
Given the large diversity of bacterial strains that are resistant to current drug treatment, this study aims to improve the surface of medical devices, specifically nasogastric tubes, by covering them with nanostructured coatings that exhibit anti-microbial potential and inhibit biofilm formation. The current book contains novel and relevant data regarding the fabrication, characterization and biomedical applications of zinc oxide based nanostructures and thin coatings. Recent reported studies demonstrate that the proposed approach represents an original strategy to improve the properties of medical devices by the significant reduction of bacterial colonization on their surface.
