Zoe Weil (born July 13, 1961) is the co-founder and President of the Institute for Humane Education, a pioneer in the field of comprehensive humane education, and the author of six books, including Above All, Be Kind: Raising a Humane Child in Challenging Times and The Power and Promise of Humane Education. Her latest book is Most Good, Least Harm: A Simple Principle for a Better World and Meaningful Life.Born in New York City July 13, 1961, Weil grew up in Manhattan and attended the Nightingale-Bamford School. She graduated with a B.A. and an M.A. in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.After various jobs and volunteer experiences, which included working in a daycare, a psychiatric hospital, a natural history museum, a bookstore, teaching English to a refugee and volunteering for a professor who taught chimpanzees a symbolic language, she became a teacher and naturalist at the Preservation and Wildlife Society (PAWS).
